HIP HOP.....The Rhythm, The Love, The Beat...And you don't stop!

Hip Hop started out in the 1970’s in the Morris Heights projects of Bronx, New York City.  There are four distinct artistical elements to Hip Hop, all of them represent the different expressions of the culture:  MC’ing,  Dj’ing, Break Dancing and Graffiti Art (not bling, booty, cars and champagne). Despite their different methods of execution, they find unity in their common association to the poverty and violence going on in the inner city communities.  Hip Hop gave a way for the youth to express themselves and be heard,  it opened up the eyes of the world to what was really going in the hood.  Many people found it to be offensive and scary, sometimes the realness can be offensive and scary but  Hip Hop made it impossible to ignore.  At first it was considered a passing fad, boy that was a big mistake.  The Hip Hop culture is now a world wide phenomenon where the youths from the ghettos and the youths from upper scale communities from all over the world find common ground with one another.  When I first heard U.T.F.O’s “Roxanne Roxanne” back in 1984, I was hooked!
